Dryden School is a maintained special school for students from the ages of 11 to 18 years and has Post 16 provision for students up to the age of 18.
In September 2011 Dryden School formed a soft federation with Hill Top School. Following consultation the schools moved to a Hard Federation with a single Governing Body in April 2013. The Federation has allowed us to have a shared leadership, strengthen the governance of both schools, enhance training opportunities and to develop opportunities that benefit pupils.
The school motto ‘nurture today for an outstanding tomorrow’ reflects the high aspirations and expectations of all our pupils.
The school caters for students with severe learning difficulties or profound and multiple learning needs. Pupils are placed at the school by the Special Educational Needs and Disability Team at Gateshead Council.
