About Our School

We enjoy and benefit from purpose built accommodation which includes a hydrotherapy pool, dedicated dining area, school hall, a catering kitchen within a food technology room, good ICT equipment in each classroom, horticulture area, light and sound room and much more.

Our school roll currently has 58 students. The school is organised in to three areas – students aged 11-14 are in Key Stage 3, those between 14-16 are in Key Stage 4 and students aged 16-18 are in the post-16 department.

We have an excellent team who show outstanding teamwork in meeting the needs of all students. Relationships with all other professionals, partners and agencies are extremely important to us, by working together effectively and efficiently we are collectively able to offer more to our young people and their families.

 Transition

Transition to and from school is often a time of concern for families, we work extremely closely with all partners to support families and young people to make sure their transition is successful at all stages. Students usually start their time at Dryden School very happily after a very thorough transition programme with feeder schools. Students leaving Dryden School start their transition planning early with a very person centred approach, gathering information from everyone involved with the young person. This results in young people leaving us to go to the most appropriate placement for them e.g. colleges, day services or hopefully training and employment opportunities in the future.

We have high and realistic expectations for all our students, striving at all times to develop independence and responsibility. We focus on personal thinking and learning skills and enterprise skills throughout the school. All students develop Their awareness of work related learning and where appropriate we secure relevant work experience for some students.
