Community Children’s Nursing Team

From the start of term in January 2018, Dryden will have a named link nurse – we welcome Tammy Hennon.  Tammy is part of the community children’s nursing team (CCNT) and already knows some of the children who attend our school.

Newcastle Gateshead CCG and Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust have been and will continue to review the nursing service provided in the Special Schools in Gateshead in the aim to meet the requirements of the pupils to keep them safe and attending school wherever possible.

Healthy Child Programme Service

From 1 July 2018, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust (HDFT) will be provide the  Healthy Child Programme Service in Sunderland and Gateshead, which is transferring from South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust (STFT) and will form part of a new approach to working with children, young people and families.

The Healthy Child Programme Team will work with children, young people and families in our area and will be made up of Health Visitors, Public Health Nurses, Family Nurse Partnership and support staff delivering on the Healthy Child Programme.

The team will work with children, young people and their parents/carers in a variety of settings; schools, health centres, GP surgeries, youth venues and in the family home. The Healthy Child Programme Team will offer routine health checks on children starting school and on transfer to secondary schools. In addition, the team will work closely with nurseries, schools and colleges to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people. They will continue to be responsible for measuring and weighing children as part of the National Child Measurement Programme.
