Following the success of the Willow project, it was decided that the money left over from the original lottery bid would be well spent and within the remit of the bid, if it was used towards another outdoor project incorporating the creative skills of the students.
For a while now, outdoor seating has been in short supply in the playground outside the hall, so working with a local sculptor, Neil Canavan, members of the Student Council helped design some ideas that could be used for carving new seats. Everyone agreed the design should incorporate the Dryden tree logo and the values and attributes we strive for at Dryden School: respect; kindness; honesty; challenge; resilience and independence.
We are now up to the stage where Neil will source the materials and students will get the opportunity to work with Neil and carve the design they like best. It will be really nice to have something the students have had an input into from beginning to end and to enjoy the finished product! We are looking forward to seeing the result!
